- One-off appearance by Brittany Murphy, who portrayed Tai in the original film, guest starring as new girl Jasmine.
- When Cher collides into the stop sign with her Dad's Mercedes-Benz, and exclaims "Oh, Daddy, it came out of nowhere," she is referencing the original film, only back then Cher almost ran over a cyclist.
- During 1995, Unhappily Ever After, another fellow teen sitcom, had an episode with a similar title, also dealing with a young girl's driving lessons.
